Your brand is the most valuable asset of your business. When you build your brand properly, you will have a loyal, raving following, and no matter what you do, your followers will jump at the opportunity to work with you and buy from you.

Building up your brand is a process, and when done correctly, your brand and your name will be worth millions.

At this day and age, your company is You Inc. It is you, it is your name and it is your brand. Building a million dollar brand based on your name doesn’t happen by accident. It is something that is deliberate and planned, and in this article I’m going to teach you exactly how, step by step.

1)      Know your target audience. Who do you want to attract to your brand? What age group? What income & education level? What are their fears? Their desires? Their problems? What motivates them? By understanding the mentality of your target market, you will have much better clarity on how to position yourself to them.

2)      Make a list of all the top people you look up to and follow. Write down all of the traits that you admire in them. Using this list, create another list of how you want your target audience to see you. In all of your marketing, embody these characteristics and portray them in any way you can.

3)      Have high perceived value internet real-estate. In other words, make sure all of your sites look damn good. This is a must. In order to be a brand that people want to associate with and ultimately do business with, you must appear to be of “high status” online. Hire a good designer, and do not settle for anything less than something you’re 100% happy with. (click here for our recommended designer)

4)      Build your brand around your unique story. Portray yourself as a leader that people want to do business with, and that you have what other people want. Tell a GOOD story, and build it up in the traditional “hero” style. What have been your greatest challenges? Initial failures? Struggles? Depressing moments? Obstacles that you needed to overcome? Take all of this, weave it into a story of TRIUMPH, and then share this everywhere you can.

5)       Align yourself with top names in your industry. This gives you instant credibility and authority. Go to live events, take pictures with your teachers, do interviews, connect with them on social media, and just show that you’re part of the “upper echelon”.

6)      Ensure that the quality of content that you bring to the marketplace is nothing less than life changing. Be CONSISTENT with your communication and contribution, and deliver value that CHANGES LIVES.

7)      Interact with your community. Show that you’re a real person who CARES. Your brand is only as powerful as the loyalty of your followers, so be sure to nurture your relationships as much as possible. On Facebook, Twitter, your blog, your email list – anywhere and everywhere. Remember to consistently communicate with, interact and LOVE your community.

8)      Turn your brand into a MOVEMENT, a CAUSE. What shift are you here to make to the PLANET? Share your beliefs, and WHY you do what you do. At the core of who you are, have your deepest motivation come from the impact that you make on people’s lives, and the global change and transformation that you bring to the WORLD.
